Dear Community,
We are overjoyed to announce that KC Center for Inclusion has made the decision to merge with another nonprofit. Our Spot KC supports safe, affirming, and accepting spaces for LGBTQIA+ people, with many of its programs focusing on housing and support for those on the margins of our community.
As you may know, KCCI has been hosting programs and events for the community since 2012, initially as LikeMe Lighthouse. Largely volunteer-led and supported by donations, we recognize that we can't do it all at KCCI. With this in mind, one of our priorities has been to collaborate whenever possible, and to uplift the work of other groups and organizations doing good work. This led us to Our Spot KC. Executive Director Starzette Palmer and a dedicated staff team are up to great things at Our Spot. This month, they announced the opening of a 29,000-square-foot Navigation Center to be a safe haven and hub of resources in the Marlborough East neighborhood of KC. Not only do both organizations serve the LGBTQIA+ community, but we share common goals and a vision for the future. The time is right to pool our resources and work together. The merger will be finalized in July of this year.
We can't wait to see you at Pride, where we will celebrate with the community, answer questions, and spread the great news! We are so excited to welcome you to our new home at Our Spot KC.
Thank you!
